Disney World has become the premier vacation spot because they have a little something for everybody.  However, it can be overwhelming to decide which options to choose when planning your Disney trip!  Today we will discuss how to choose the best Disney World package for your family and your budget!

Disney World Vacation Packages

There are three major ways to book Disney World packages.  First of all, you can book directly through Disney.  Second, you can find a travel agent who can help you figure out all the details and budget things out for you.  Finally, you can book everything separately yourself, finding the optimal deals/options for your family.  Today we’ll discuss the three options and the pros and cons of each choice.

Using a Travel Agent

How to Choose the Best Disney World Package

A Disney travel agent has typically been to Disney World many times and has most importantly booked hundreds of vacations for people with large budgets and small budgets.  Usually a travel agent will have no problem stepping you through each and every piece of your vacation, will explain everything and will give you personal attention.  Especially if you are intimidated by the process, a travel agent can make things much easier.

However, it is unlikely that you will save much money using a travel agent.  Although they are able to get discounts, they do have to earn a living as well.  We recommend choosing a travel agent, not for the money savings, but for the great assistance they can offer you in all aspects of your vacation planning!

Booking your Vacation Package Without Using Disney

Many have found that the absolute cheapest way to do Disney World is by booking everything separately, and finding the best deals on each portion of your trip.  There are hundreds of hotels in the Disney area, and using web specials and web deals, you can usually find great deals on hotels.  There also are discount ticket vendors such as Undercovertourist.com and bestoforlando.com.  Many choose to stay in residential homes that are rented out for the week.  Especially if you have two or three families, you can save a lot of money this way!

However, some have found that staying offsite, eating cheaply and not using Disney for the Disney planning causes the vacation to “lose a bit of the magic”.  Resort guests get to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, and the new MyMagic program will be specifically designed for Disney resort guests and will provide many other benefits that non-resort guests won’t get to take advantage of.

Booking a Vacation Package Through Disney

So if you’ve decided to book through Disney, how can you choose which one to get?  Well first, you need to understand how Disney works.  They have three levels of hotels that you can choose from.  Value, Moderate and Deluxe/Luxury.  If you stay at a value resort, you will find that Disney isn’t going to be tremendously expensive.  By the same token, a vacation at the Polynesian resort will cost you a lot of money!  I highly recommend our comprehensive review of the types of resorts at our page on resort planning!

Next, you’ll need to decide if you are going to take advantage of the Disney Dining plan.  The Dining plan isn’t honestly going to save you money, but it is extremely convenient and is part of the appeal for many people.  There are a few different types of dining plans to choose from. Each has its own benefits and drawbacks, and there are significant differences in pricing among the different plans.  Again, please read in-depth on this matter at our webpage on Disney Dining plans.

Finally of course, you need to decide the length of stay and what types of tickets to purchase.  This decision can have a significant impact on your enjoyment of the park.  There are two different types of ticket packages and then you can get the add-on, park hopper pass.  This pass allows you to move in and out of all four parks in a single day, and can greatly add to the flexibility of your vacation!

Once you understand the basics regarding each of these three aspects, choosing a package is remarkably easy, and doesn’t require the services of anyone but you and your group!  Here at mousehints, we try to give you all the information you need to make the decision easy.

We know you will have a great time at Disney World, and may your vacation planning be as magical as your vacation will be!
