When I first started going to the Magic Kingdom, I used to stress a lot about the rides, and making sure my schedule for the day was setup perfectly. But now? I stress about WHICH SNACKS TO EAT! Seriously, the Magic Kingdom is full of delicious snacks, and you won’t get to try them all on one trip.
Today, we are going to go over the best Magic Kingdom snack credits. We’ve got a list of ten great ones, and I know your mouth will be watering by the time we are done!
I’m not going to even try to rank these, btw. Different strokes for different folks…and all that. So look at these choices, and let us know how many you’ve had, and if we’ve missed one!
Mickey Mouse Shorts Sundae (Kitchen Sink)
Put your big boys pants on for this one! Just off Main Street sits the (underrated) Plaza Restaurant. Inside is an amazing sundae fit for a king. Currently costing just over 20 bucks, this sundae is enough for the whole family. It’s massive, with scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream, as well as hot fudge, caramel and strawberry topping. To top it off, whipped cream, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and then a few cherries for your health.
This thing is enormous, and it comes with a pretty cute souvenir bowl, which makes it a fun snack that can feed the whole family. But for 20+ dollars, and who knows how many calories, this may not be an “every trip” snack.
Sometimes you have those moments at Disney that change your “traditions” and create new ones. A few years back, I was with a friend waiting on our entire group, who was running late at a Character Meet-and-Greet. While waiting, I decided to try a waffle, and saw the Nutella waffle at Smoky Hollow Refreshments. I had somehow missed this delicacy, and all it took was a couple bites and I was hooked. Now? Can’t go to the Magic Kingdom without getting one.
This waffle has so much fruit, you’d almost think it’s good for you. But the copious amounts of Nutella, all wrapped up in a very fattening and delicious waffle make this snack delicious…but not so nutritous. It’s a great treat, the fruit is usually very good and fresh, and if you love warm Nutella, you’ll wanna eat this thing very quickly, as it just melts in your mouth.
Nothing says Magic Kingdom mornings to me, like people-watching with a Nutella waffle.
The hype on the Dole Whip is out of control, as are the lines to get one. I swear the last two times I’ve been at Disney the wait for a Dole Whip was longer than the wait on half of the rides in the park.
Now am I saying it’s not good? No, it’s quite good. If you’ve been eating a lot of regular ice cream throughout the Disney complex, you may be craving a non-dairy frozen treat, and a Dole Whip can really hit the spot, especially on a hot day.
There are a couple different flavors, as you can get pineapple, orange or vanilla soft-serve, and also get juice on your frozen beverage. You gotta try one at least once, so if you’re going to do that, make sure you go during “non-peak” hours (when it’s not hot) or block off 30 minutes.
Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich – Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is the place to go for the best Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches you’ll ever try. I can’t really wax poetic about this dessert. It’s two cookies with awesome ice cream in the middle. It doesn’t get simpler than that. The combination is awesome, because both foods are awesome, so make sure you try one.
This is a newer snack choice that was recently introduced at Gaston’s Tavern. Gaston’s Tavern is a very strange menu, but we seem to head there at least one time during our trip. Whether it’s apple cider, a huge mound of greasy pork, or these fabulous cinnamon rolls, it’s got something for protein lovers and carb lovers alike. But the cinnamon roll is the only sweet thing that makes this list.
Waffle with Strawberries and Whipped Cream
Back to Sleepy Hollow Refreshments again. I happen to prefer the Nutella and fruit waffle, but invariably I always have a few moments of doubt when I see friends order this waffle. A regular travel companion of mine always gets this, and I always find myself wanting it….but not quite enough to skip my favored Nutella waffle.
But different people like different things, and you can’t go wrong with this treat.
A lesser-known Disney snack, the toffee cake is found at the Liberty Tree Tavern. I don’t really know how to describe this. An amazing cookie/toffee type of cake is at the bottom, ice cream is on the top, toffee and chocolate syrups are drizzed over the top, along with chocolate chips. It’s amazing. I’m not personally a huge fan of toffee, but if you like it, this could easily be your favorite dessert on the grounds.
Big Top Snacks
I’m cheating a little. I’m giving you an entire array of snacks to choose from. Big Top Snacks has all sorts of delightful snacks. They change it up, so it’s pointless to try and list all the different selections. But if you are looking for something different, and you are trying to find something fun to do in the Storybook Circus area, head into Big Top Souvenirs and get an amazing treat.
Hot Fudge Sundae
We already discussed the huge Kitchen Sink Sundae, but lets face it, that’s not a snack credit, or a normal-sized snack. Typically, when I’m in the mood for an amazing ice cream treat, I head straight to Storybook Treats (in fantasyland). BTW, if you are planning to stand in line for 60+ minutes to ride the mine train, hop across the street first and get one of these amazing sundaes. It will make the long wait much more enjoyable.
I have to say, of all the amazing treats you can get in Disney world, the Mickey Bar is always my favorite. It’s simple and yet it’s amazing. Without a doubt, it’s the only treat that I know I’ve had every single time I’ve been to Disney World. It wouldn’t be a trip without one. Whether that’s due to the power of Disney marketing or the great taste of the bar, I couldn’t tell you. But a Mickey bar never disappoints. Solid perfection in an ice cream bar.
In the mood for something more substantial than a snack?
