Disney’s Magic Kingdom
The Magic Kingdom is a theme park at the Disney World resort in the Orlando, FL area. The park is the most popular theme park in the entire world, attracting over 20 million visitors a year. It has been the most visited theme park in the United States for 18 years in a row. The park is represented by Cinderella’s castle, the 183-foot tall iconic symbol of Disney World.
Magic Kingdom History
Before he died, Walt Disney was heavily involved in the planning of this park. The construction of the park began after his death in 1967 and continued for 4 years until the opening in 1971. The park was built as a bigger and better version of the Disneyland park in California. The Magic Kingdom is actually built on a large series of tunnels that allow cast members to move all around the park, unseen to guests and visitors. The park opened on October 1, 1971 with 23 attractions, 3 of which were unique to the park, and 20 of which were replicas of Disneyland attractions.
