For the first time in over ten years, the Magic Kingdom has a new parade! The festival of fantasy parade opened in early March to rave reviews! This daily afternoon parade is sure to become a fan favorite! What all does this parade have to offer, and how can you best see it?
The Princess Garden: Disney princesses are on display early on, as Belle and the Beast start things out, followed with Cinderella, Tiana, and the newest additions to the Disney world, Elsa and Anna!
Tangled: A beautiful longship sports Flynn Rider and Repunzel. This float is 36-feet long and has swaying pendulums. Watch out!
Little Mermaid: Ariel and Sebastian bring their ocean participants from The Little Mermaid to the fun aboard a music box. Shimmering costumes and dancing fish liven things up on this float!
Peter Pan: Wendy and Peter Pan are high in the sky, and are being chased by Captin Hook, Mr. Smee, and the Crocodile!
Brave: Merida is featured in this float inspired by the Pixar instant classic film, Brave!
Sleeping Beauty: One of the most amazing parts of the parade is the fire-breathing dragon. So far, this dragon has been the hit of the parade, as he shoots real fire into the air, which is usually accompanied by a number of squeals from the audience.
Mickey’s Airship: No parade is complete without Mickey and Minnie. These two, plus a bevy of other Disney mainstays finish off the parade.
Tips for Watching the Festival of Fantasy Parade
Lets be real here, this parade is going to be very popular. Disney World’s popularity has gone through the roof over the past 10 years, and this is the first new parade they’ve had in a long time.
As such, it’s going to be tough to get front row seats.
To get seats, check the parade times and get to your spots an hour early. In the future, this may not be necessary, but with a new parade, this is what you’ll have to do. It will be standing room only, and spots will naturally be hardest to get on Main Street and in front of the castle.
As always, we’d recommend Liberty Square as one of the best spots for parade viewing, but in the early months, it’s going to be packed no matter where you are. Remember, at this time, the parade is only showing once a day, at 3pm. Since there is only one parade, it’s going to be tough to see, so you’ll have to plan this one out.
We HIGHLY recommend using a fastpass for this parade. To do so, you’ll need to make it a priority. As soon as you have the ability to book (60 days in advance), try and snag fastpasses. There is limited seating, so that everyone can enjoy. Some may not feel that using a fastpass for the parade is worth it, but trust us, it’s the best fastpass you’ll use all trip. The location is front and center, and the crowds in the fastpass area are lower than they are everywhere else.
If you come at the last minute and try and get a fastpass to the parade, it’s probably going to be tough to get them. But if this is your plan, get there before the park opens and try and snag them in the first ten minutes.
We hope you enjoy this fantastic new parade! If you’ve been, tell us how you liked it below!
